We petition the CDC and the FDA to conduct testing on GMOs and Glyphosate (Roundup) in relation to Autism, Allergies, Asthma, Alzheimers, Autoimmune disorders and other health risks.
Considering the CDC’s and FDA’s mission to “protect American health”, we Moms and supporters ask the CDC and FDA to remain true to your commitment and to immediately conduct and require LONG-TERM AND LIFETIME tests to determine if there is any risk or danger to our citizens and children by genetically modified foods and their required herbicides and pesticides such as Glyphosate (Roundup), Bt Toxin, 2,4-D, Dicamba, Glufosinate etc.
We have seen the health of our children drastically decline in the past 17 years since GMOs have been put into our food supply without long term independent safety testing. (1) We see in our classrooms every day that 1 out of 3 of our children have autism, ADHD, asthma, allergies and autoimmune disorders. (2) It was not like this when we were children. The impact is devastating to our families, our economy and our future.
Our children are being compromised and this is unacceptable. They are not being protected.
1 out of 2 children is projected to have Autism in 20 years if we continue at the current rate of increased incidence.(3) The reason for this rise must be identified, stopped and our children and our country must be protected. Our society, economy and country will be unable to function properly with 50% of our children's abilities compromised. This is a national crisis.
The CDC and the FDA needs to protect our children and citizens from the many skyrocketing he America is sicker and dying of illness more frequently than other developed country’s citizens.
5,000 American people are diagnosed with cancer each day. In our country, 1 out of 2 men and 1 out of 3 women are expected to get cancer.(4) We are last on the list of the top 17 developing countries for the worst infant mortality rates.(5) Fertility has dropped 30% in the last 5 years alone and according to Dr. Don M. Huber, GMOs and infertility have now been scientifically linked. SIDS has also been linked to glyphosate, which is sprayed on GMOs. (6) 1 out of 8 of our parents have Alzheimers and that number is expected to triple in the next 40 years. (7) The US has the highest bipolar rate in an 11 nation study. (8) Bipolarity is linked to aggression and violence in our schools, which is also on the rise. (9) According to Steven Wolff, author of the US Health Report 2013, America's health is declining and our children will be the first generation that will not outlive their parent's generation. The reason, whatever it is, according to Dr.Wolff is “systemic." (10)
We believe the systemic reason is that, unlike other countries, 80% of the food in the US contains ingredients from genetically modified crops that contain foreign proteins and has been doused glyphosate herbicide which has been shown to damage the beneficial bacteria in our gut which is the stronghold of our immune system. Glyphosate also impairs the liver’s ability to detox and breaks down the blood brain barrier to allow toxins into the brain. (also 3)
Glyphosate is allowed to be present in 160 different food items according to the EPA and is also in our water supply at levels that are many times times higher than what has been scientifically proven to cause breast cancer and damage to the health of animals. We have seen the paper by Samsel and Seneff, the report from Dr. Swanson, and studies by Dr. Thongprakaisang (11) which links glyphosate to cancer, autism, allergies, autoimmune disorders, ADHD, COPD, Parkinsons and Alzheimers.
We parents also see our children’s allergies, autism, ADHD, autoimmune disorders and digestive symptoms dramatically improve or disappear when we remove GMOs from their diets and eat only organic food.
Not all American people can afford to eat organic and we should not be exposed to these toxins that are in fact causing harm. This is a social injustice, discrimination and a failure to protect the civil liberties of the people by the governmental regulatory agencies.
We want people with illnesses, pregnant mothers, stillborn babies, and infant mortality and cancer victims to be tested for glyphosate and GMO protein contamination.
It is the responsibility of parents to care for their children and it is the responsibility of the CDC to partner with us to care for our nation. We request that testing is conducted immediately of all GMOs, glyphosate, and all herbicides and pesticides to protect the American people. Until then we request that the CDC advise that no further approvals be made of GMOs and use of related pesticides and herbicides, and enact the Precautionary Principle in American food.

FDA is also responsible for advancing the public health by helping to speed innovations that make medicines more effective, safer, and more affordable and by helping the public get the accurate, science-based information they need to use medicines and foods to maintain and improve their health. FDA also has responsibility for regulating the manufacturing, marketing and distribution of tobacco products to protect the public health and to reduce tobacco use by minors.
Finally, FDA plays a significant role in the Nation’s counterterrorism capability. FDA fulfills this responsibility by ensuring the security of the food supply and by fostering development of medical products to respond to deliberate and naturally emerging public health threats.
